Sri Lanka stocks close flat

Aug 08, 2013 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's stocks closed flat Thursday with losses in in the large cap stocks and some banking stocks, brokers said.

Ceylon Tobacco Company closed at 1,201.00 up 0.70 rupees and Distilleries Sri Lanka closed at 194.90 up 2.40 rupees.

The benchmark Colombo All Share Index closed 0.13 points higher at 6,151.92 and the S&P SL 20 Index closed 09.71 points lower at 3,470.16 down 0.28 percent.

Turnover was 285 million rupees with over 11 million shares traded.

Foreigners brought 57 million rupees worth shares while selling 24 million rupees of shares, in a day that 79 stocks advanced and 93 stocks declined.

Sri Lanka Telecom contributed most to the index closing at 41.00 rupees up 1.00 rupees. Ceylinco Insurance closed at 1,219.80 rupees up 69.80 rupees and Dialog Axiata closed at 8.70 rupees up 0.10 rupees.

Negative contributors were John Keells Holdings closing at 264.30 rupees down 3.20 rupees and Nestle Lanka closing at 2,251.40 down 8.40 rupees. Aitken Spence closed at 122.20 up 1.10 rupees.

In the banking sector, Sampath Bank closed at 195.7.60 rupees down 0.60 rupees, Pan Asia closed at 17.60 rupees down 0.20 rupees. DFCC closed at 130.80 rupees up 0.10 rupees and Commercial Bank of Ceylon closed at 119.00 down 0.30 rupees.
