Sri Lanka stocks close flat

July 29, 2013 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's stocks closed flat Monday with activity seen in the large cap stocks and some banking stocks, brokers said.

Distilleries Company closed at 190.50 rupees up 30 cents while Aitken Spence closed at 124.00 down 90 cents. John Kells Holdings closed at 267.50 rupees down 0.50 rupees. The benchmark Colombo All Share Index closed 05.15 points higher at 6,056.92 and the S&P SL 20 Index closed 02.10 points lower at 3,425.77 up 0.06 percent.

Turnover was 451 million rupees up from 403 million Friday.

Foreigners brought 264 million rupees worth shares while selling 210 million rupees of shares, in a day that 57 stocks advanced and 118 stocks declined.

Ceylon Tobacco Company contributed most to the index closing at 1,044.30 rupees up 64.20 rupees. Hatton National Bank closed at 156.00 up 2.00 rupees and Ceylon Beverage Holdings closed at 549.00 rupees up 39.00 rupees.

Negative contributors were Sri Lanka Telecom closing at 39.30 rupees down 1.00 rupee. Commercial Banka of Ceylon closed at114.00 rupees down 2.10 rupees and The Lion Brewery closed at 360.10 rupees down 19.10 rupees.

In the banking sector, Sampath Bank closed at 199.20 down 2.90 rupees, Pan Asia closed at 17.90 down 0.20 rupees. DFCC closed at 128.00 rupees down 0.90 rupees.
