Sri Lanka stocks close higher 0.06-pct

Dec 23, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lankan stocks closed higher at 0.06 percent after two consecutive days of losses ahead of the Christmas long week-end with index heavy stock making gains, brokers said.

The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed higher at 4.07 points at 6,858.64 up 0.06 percent. S&P SL20 closed 1.35 points down at 3,603.25 down at 0.04 percent.

Turnover was at 205 million rupees, lower than the daily average of 1.1 billion rupees with 54 stocks closing positive against 49 negative.

The main index showed gains in John Keells Holdings closing at 175.90 rupees, higher 0.90 rupees.

Active trading was seen in Ceylon Hotels Corporation with the stock closing at 28.00 rupees, up 2.90 rupees with one off the floor trade of 3.3 million shares at 30.00 rupees.

There was a net foreign out flow of 9 million with foreign participation at 18 percent.
