Sri Lanka stocks close higher 0.06-pct: Budget concerns

Nov 18, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lankan stocks closed higher at 0.06 percent on Wednesday with low turnover and volumes as investors kept on the side lines ahead of Friday’s government budget, brokers said.

The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed up 4.02 points at 6,981.97 higher 0.06 percent. S&P SL20 closed 3.95 points lower at 3,759.35 down 0.10 percent.

Turnover was 535 million rupees, down from 1.12 billion rupees on Tuesday with 67 stocks closing positive against 59 negative.

“Investors are waiting for some clear policy direction from the budget,” Lanka Securities said.

The main index showed gains in Hayleys closing at 321.70 rupees, , up 6.70 rupees with one off the floor trade of 100,000 shares at 320.00 rupees.

Lion Brewery closed at 640.00 rupees, up 14.70 rupees.

Sampath Bank closed at 258.40 rupees, up 4.60 rupees.
