Sri Lanka stocks close up 0.2-pct

Nov 14, 2013 (LBO) - Sri Lanka stocks closed higher helped by food and hotel firms, brokers said. Commercial Bank closed 10 cents higher at 113.00 rupees and Cargills Ceylon closed 3.00 rupees higher at 150.00 rupees.

Distilleries closed flat at 184.00 rupees. HNB closed 10 cents lower at 144.90 rupees and Sampath Bank closed 10 cents lower at 166.90 rupees.

Lanka Orix Leasing Company closed 1.00 rupee higher at 63.00 rupees and Aitken Spence closed flat at 113.50 rupees. Touchwood closed 10 cents lower at 3.40 rupees. The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed 13.01 points higher at 5,829.05, up 0.22 percent. The S&P SL20 closed 7.68 points higher at 3,185.96, up 0.24 percent.

Turnover was 525.70 million rupees, down from 710.41 million rupees a day earlier, with stocks of 75 firms closing in the red against 92 gainers.

Dialog telecom closed down 10 cents at 9.00 rupees with a 135 million rupee off market transaction contributing to 25 percent of market turnover.

Foreigners brought 186 million rupees worth shares while selling 149 million rupees of shares.

Nestle Lanka closed 23.30 rupees higher at 1,973.30 rupees and Aitken Spence Hotel Holdings closed 3.20 rupees higher at 68.30 rupees, contributing most to the index. Asian Hotels and Properties closed 2.00 rupees higher at 70.00 rupees.

Chevron Lubricants Lanka closed 7.30 rupees higher at 270.00 rupees and DFCC closed 2.80 rupees higher at 123.90 rupees. JKH closed 20 cents lower at 208.40 rupees. JKH’s W0022 warrants closed 90 cents lower at 58.30 rupees and JKH’s W0023 warrants closed 40 cents higher at 63.00 rupees.

Ceylon Tobacco Company closed flat at 1,050.00 rupees and Bukit Darah closed flat at 675.00 rupees. Commercial Leasing and Finance closed flat at 4.10 rupees and C T Holdings closed flat at 150.00 rupees

Lanka IOC closed 30 cents higher at 29.10 rupees.
