Sri Lanka stocks close up 0.3-pct; JKH gains

July 09, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s stocks closed up 0.34 percent on Thursday, following three consecutive day of losses, with index heavy stocks and banks showing gains, brokers said. The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed 23.26 points higher at 6,947.98 up 0.34 percent. The S&P SL20 closed 26.92 points higher at 3,877.29 higher at 0.70 percent. Turnover was 1.03 billion rupees, up from 520 million rupees Wednesday with 78 stocks closing positive against 53 negative. “Index heavy stocks and Banks did well today,” Lanka Securities said. The main index showed gains in John Keells Holding closing at 179.00 rupees, up 3.70 rupees and Hatton National Bank closed up at 207.70 rupees, up 4.60 rupees. Dialog closed at 10.30 rupees, up 0.10 rupees with 9 off the floor trades of over 41.4 million shares at prices ranging between 10.10 – 10.20 rupees. In banking stocks, Commercial Bank closed at 162.00 rupees, up 1.20 rupees and DFCC closed at 190.00 rupees, down 0.10 rupees.
