Sri Lanka stocks down 0.2-pct

July 15, 2013 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's stocks closed down 0.22 percent Monday with large cap stocks making losses, brokers said.

Nestle Lanka closed at 1,918.10 down 12.90 rupees and Aitken Spence closed at 126.00 rupees down 10 cents. The benchmark Colombo All Share Index closed 13.54 points lower at 6,015.20 down 0.22 percent and the S&P SL 20 Index closed 12.01 points higher at 3,397.44 up 0.35 percent.

Turnover was 440 million rupees up from 328 million from a day earlier.

Commercial Bank contributed most to the index closing at 117.00 rupees up 2.00 rupees while Carsons and Cumberbatch closed at 425.00 up 8.00 rupees. Hatton National Bank closed at 157.00 rupees up 1.00 rupees and National Development Bank closed at 163.90 rupees up 1.90 rupees.

Negative contributors were John Keells Holdings closing at 248.60 rupees down 1.30 rupees and Sri Lanka Telecom closed at 39.00 down 0.50 rupees. Dialog Axiata closed at 8.70 rupees down 10 cents.

In the banking sector, DFCC closed at 129.40 rupees down 0.50 rupees. Sampath Bank closed flat at 198.00 and Pan Asia closed at 18.00 down 0.10 rupees.

Ceylon Tobacco Company closed flat at 1,000.00 rupees while Distilleries Company closed at 188.10 rupees up 0.10 rupees.
