Mar 27, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka will get aid from the Government of China to build a hospital with all the modern facilities to cater to patients with kidney diseases, president Sirisena’s office said in a media release.
The Chinese President Xi Jinping has agreed to provide assistance to build the hospital at the request of President Sirisena at a bilateral meeting held yesterday in central Beijing.
The statement said, President Sirisena has told the Chinese President that Sri Lanka will utilize more direct investments from China into the state and private sectors.

Chinese President Xi said according to the statement that China wants to strengthen ties between the two countries and take bilateral cooperation to a higher level.
Sri Lanka’s cabinet gave the nod last week to the Chinese construction company to recommence work on the controversial Chinese’s funded break water in the port city project which was earlier suspended by them.
President Sirisena is on a four day state visit to China on the invitation of President of China Xi Jinping.
The statement said that the Chinese President appreciated the good governance policy of the Sri Lankan President as well as the steps taken by the Sri Lankan Government to safeguard the independence of the judiciary in the country.
He also promised to provide development aid, which can be more useful to Sri Lanka and agreed to work in cooperation with SAARC member countries.
The Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized that the Government of China will give its fullest support in internationally on issues of alleged human rights issues regarding Sri Lanka.
The United Nations has delayed the report of alleged human rights violations during the 30 year ethnic war in Sri Lanka until September 2015, given the changing political context in the island.
