Sri Lanka to get USD50mn loan for early childhood development project

June 01, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka will hold discussion with World Bank to obtain a loan facility of 50 million US dollars to develop an early childhood development project,in the island, Cabinet Spokesman Rajitha Senaratne told media at a press briefing held recently.

“The government’s development strategies have identified the importance of making more investment in early childhood,” He said.

The international development agency of the World Bank has agreed to make financial contribution for this purpose, Senaratne said.

Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal made by Finance Minister, Ravi Karunanayake to hold discussion with the relevant body of the World Bank to enter into an agreement to obtain the loan facility.
