Sri Lanka to strengthen economic ties with Germany through President’s visit

Feb 15, 2016 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena is on an official visit to Germany and Austria with the aim of further strengthening the economic and trade cooperation between the island and the two countries, a statement said. A special discussion between the President and the German Economic Affairs Minister is scheduled to held during the visit with detailed discussions regarding stimulating the economic cooperation between the two countries. During his visit to Germany the President will also attend a special ceremony held under the patronage of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to welcome the him while he is also scheduled to visit the German Parliament and meet representatives. After concluding the 2-day visit to Germany the President will leave for Austria on February 19. The President of Austria, Heinz Fischer will welcome the President Sirisena with State honour. President is also scheduled to meet Austrian business community with the aim to further collaboration and strengthening the relations between the two countries.
