Sri Lanka urban housing eyed by UAE firm: industries ministry

July 05, 2013 (LBO) – Midein Holding Llc, an Abu Dhabi based firm is looking at urban housing development in Sri Lanka, the ministry of industry and commerce said. Omair S Al Dhaheri, chairman of Midein Holding had visited Colombo and has had talks with deputy investment promotion minister Faiser Mustapha and chairman of the state investment promotion agency, Lakshman Jayaweera.

“We have received a very encouraging welcome in Sri Lanka. In partnership with Overseas Private Investment Corporation of US, we are planning to enter Sri Lanka initially in urban housing sector.

“We are mostly interested in bigger housing projects that take above 10000 housing units per project,” an industry ministry statement quoted Al Dhaheri as saying.

“The model we want to employ here depends on the needs of the government of Sri Lanka but we are capable at our end, in terms of financing, tech transfer and technical capacity.”

He had been accompanied by Luciano Giangiordano, from Green Technologies a related firm.
