Sri Lanka’s John Keells to double hotel rooms over next 5 years

Sep 09, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka's John Keells Holdings plans to double its current 2,200 room capacity in the next 5 years, Ajit Gunewardene, the deputy chairman said.





This includes the 800 rooms of Cinnamon Life iconic that the group is building. "By the middle of next year we would be constructing approximately 400 to 500 rooms through three to four smaller hotels," Gunewardene told reporters at a event held Tuesday.

He said each may require about 150 million dollars in investment. “We are looking at locations in Nuwaraeliya, east coast and Yala.



But you never know, it may be Maldives also.

We are still planning,” Gunewardene said.



“We do not want to wait till government do everything, we want to contribute to the industry and cater to increasing demand,” he said. "What that means is we are heavily invested in this industry.
