Sri Lanka’s Vidullanka to commission Uganda hydropower plant

Mar 15, 2017 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s Vidullanka, a hydro power firm, will commission the completed 6.5MW mini hydro power plant in Uganda next week.

The company said in a Colombo Stock Exchange filing that Muvumbe Hydro (Uganda) Limited, a subsidiary of mini hydro developer Vidullanka, entered into a power purchase agreement with state-owned Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) in 2015 to sell the power generated for a period of 20 years from commissioning date.

“The commission of the plant will be after joint testing with the authorities.

Vidullanka in February issued ordinary shares by private placement amounting to 9.1 million at 5.48 rupees to raise 50 million rupees, to partly fund the acquisition of the mini-hydro power plant in Uganda.
