Sri Lanka’s Vidullanka to commission Uganda hydropower plant

Mar 15, 2017 (LBO) - Sri Lanka’s Vidullanka, a hydro power firm, will commission the completed 6.5MW mini hydro power plant in Uganda next week.

The company said in a Colombo Stock Exchange filing that Muvumbe Hydro (Uganda) Limited, a subsidiary of mini hydro developer Vidullanka, entered into a power purchase agreement with state-owned Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) in 2015 to sell the power generated for a period of 20 years from commissioning date. "The commission of the plant will be after joint testing with the authorities.

" Vidullanka in February issued ordinary shares by private placement amounting to 9.1 million at 5.48 rupees to raise 50 million rupees, to partly fund the acquisition of the mini-hydro power plant in Uganda.
