UNP eyes 125 seats in next Parliament with majority sinhala votes: Minister

June 09, 2015 (LBO) - Sri Lanka’s ruling United National Party on Tuesday said they are aiming to secure 125 seats in the next Parliament.

"This time we want to take the lead from the Sinhalese votes," UNP Deputy General Secretary Akila Viraj Kaiyawasam stressed. Sri Lanka's single lagest party was earlier charged for the notion of deterriorating voter base in Sinhala speaking areas. "So this time we are planning to bag 120 to 125 seats in the Parliament while taking the lead in Sinhala votes." Kaiyawasam said. Speaking about the 20th amendemnt, Kaiyawasam told reporters that the cabinet approved draft amendemnt will be presented to the Parliament shortly. " Kaiyawasam said. Cabinet on Monday approved Prime Minister's proposal for 20th amendemnt with 225 seats; 125 first and post; 75 Proportional Representation and 25 from the National list.

UNP should get the over all majority with the other constituent parties..This is not a dream but a reality. People cannot be fooled all the time.
