UNP bashes opposition leader; demands President to dissolve Parliament

June 14, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s ruling United National Party at its working committee meeting held last Friday unanimously agreed to demand President the immediate dissolution of the Parliament.









Issuing a statement UNP decision making body bashed at opposition leader for trying to topple the 20th amendment by bringing in a no confidence motion against the Prime Minister and Finance Minister. “Opposition leader, secretaries of SLFP and UPFA and other SLFP ministers are behind this conspiracy,” The no confidence motion brought against the Prime Minister is already included in the order book of the parliament, the statement said. “It is appropriate to consider the public statements made by the Speaker and majority of the Parliament when dissolving the Parliament.
