Nov 08, 2018 (LBO) – US President Donald Trump has sacked his Attorney General Jeff Sessions, a day after the Republicans lost control of the lower house of Congress in the 2018 midterm elections.
The move came after the President repeatedly criticized his Attorney General for not taking a tougher approach to illegal immigrants, and accused him over an investigation into Russia’s role in the 2016 presidential race.
Trump had repeatedly attacked him of protecting Robert Mueller’s investigation into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russians, an investigation that is also examining whether the president himself obstructed justice.
Foreign media reports say this will be the first of what could be a string of high-profile exits as the President reshapes his team ahead of his own 2020 re-election effort.
