We will form a broader and fresh alliance to save Sri Lanka: Ranil

Nov 12, 2018 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s ousted Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe says that the political parties of United National Front are expecting to form a new political alliance. Releasing a special statement Wickremesinghe said they are currently discussing about building a broader people’s organization to save the country from the current situation.

Wickremesinghe criticized the President for dissolving the Parliament unconstitutionally. Meanwhile, former Parliamentarian S M Marikkar says that UNP party members are of the view that party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe should step down making the way for Sajith Premadasa to become party leader.

Speaking at a press conference held at Temple Trees yesterday, Marikkar added that former Premier Wickremesinghe led the party for more than 24 years and the people are now requesting a change in the leadership.

Former Minister Rajitha Senaratne, however, said at a public gathering that the new political alliance will consist of a leadership council and not from one leader. PDF Embedder requires a url attribute
