Sunil Handunnetti elected as new COPE Chairman

Nov 26, 2015 (LBO) – Parliamentarian Sunil Handunnetti has been elected as the new Chairman of the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE), the Marxist JVP said in a statement.

Minister Rauff Hakeem has proposed Handunnetti’s name while Minister Ajith P. Perera has seconded it. Meanwhile Deputy Minister of Western Municipal Development, Lasantha Alagiyawanna has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, the ministry said. The new appointments were made at respective committee meetings held today at Parliament.

The election of this senior opposition legislator to the top slot of COPE may indicate a changing horizen for the better.He will lead a team of multy party legislators to ensure value for money for people &would be able to keep an eagles eye.No need to mention of course a fearless note worthy decision going beyond personal attachments,like or dislikes.
