Sri Lanka stocks close down 0.04-pct: Banking losses

Oct 06, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lankan stocks closed down 0.04 percent on Tuesday with losses in seen in Dialog Axaita and banking sector stocks, brokers said. The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed down 3.13 points at 7,085.93 lower 0.0.04 percent. S&P SL20 closed 2.92 points lower at 3,827.31 down 0.08 percent. Turnover was 664 million rupees, up from 641 million rupees Monday with 46 stocks closing positive against 83 negative. The main index was dragged down by losses in Dialog Axaita closing at 11.00 rupees, down 0.30 rupees and Ceylinco Insurance closing at 1,400.00 rupees, down 55.40 rupees. John Keells Holdings closed down at 169.70 rupees, up 1.50 rupees with two separate off the floor trades amounting to 666,000 shares at 166.00 rupees. Active trading was seen in the banking sector with most of the stock recording losses, DFCC Bank closed at 179.20 rupees, down 0.90 rupees and National Development Bank closed at 220.10 rupees, down 1.60 rupees. Hatton National bank closed at 213.60 rupees, down 1.40 rupees.
