Sri Lanka stocks close down 0.4-pct: Low investor activity

Sep 04, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lankan stocks closed down 0.42 percent on Friday with low investor activity and most of the banking sector stocks making losses, brokers said. The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed down 30.39 points at 7,215.11, lower 0.42 percent. S&P SL20 closed 22.63 points lower at 3,956.21 down 0.57 percent. Turnover was 540 million rupees, down from 566 million rupees, Thursday with 40 stocks closing positive against 103 negative. The main index showed losses in Ceylon Tobacco Company closing at 961.00 rupees down 18.50 rupees. Banking stocks which were activity traded made losses in Commercial Bank closed at 169.50 rupees, down 1.50 rupees and Hatton National Bank closed at 215.00 rupees, down 3.50 rupees. DFCC Bank closed down at 187.40 rupees, down 2.30 rupees with the stock also hitting a 52 week low price of 186.60 rupees. Textured Jersey closed flat at 31.90 rupees with one off the floor trade of 700,000 shares at 32.00 rupees and an overall 2.03 million shares traded during the day. Dialog Axiata closed flat 11.40 rupees.
