Nov 30, 2016 (LBO) – Consumer prices in Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo accelerated 3.4 percent in November 2016 from a year earlier, but down from 4.2 percent in October, the state statistics office data showed.
Year-on-year inflation of the “Food Group” decreased from 6.0 percent in October to 2.9 percent in November, while that of the “Non-food Group” increased from 2.5 percent to 3.8 percent during this period.
For the month of November on yearly basis, contribution to inflation by food commodities was 1.43 percent while the contribution of on food items was 1.95 percent.
The moving average inflation rate for the month of November 2016 was 3.6 percent while the corresponding rate for October was also 3.6 percent.
The CCPI is compiled to indicate average changes in the prices of goods and services purchased by households in urban areas of Colombo district and prices for items in the Index are collected from 14 selected centers.
