The no-confidence motion handed over in March by the Joint Opposition will be taken up for debate on Wednesday and the vote will be taken at the end of the debate on the same day. Speaking at a press briefing Propaganda Secretary Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath said the present government has obtained over 1,113 billion rupees as loans and planning to get more loans. “Both Rajapaksa administration and the current administration should be held responsible for the current state of the economy,” Herath said. “Not only the Finance Minister but also the whole government should be responsible for no-confidence.” The no-confidence motion signed by more than 40 parliamentarians alleges that the 2016 Budget presented by the Finance Minister have misled the Parliament with misrepresentations. However, the ruling coalition is preparing to show the strength of the government by voting against the no-confidence motion.
