Apr 04, 2011 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s Hayleys group has appointed Ruwan Waidyaratne as managing director of Hayleys Advantis, a subsidiary encompassing group companies in transportation and cargo logistics.
The transportation division of Hayleys consists of more than 22 specialist companies. Waidyaratne succeeded M O Raban, who retired from the position on April 01 and will function as executive director of Hayleys Advantis, a statement said.
The transportation sector has been a consistent and important contributor to the revenue and profit of Hayleys, and Ruwan has been a key member of the Hayleys Advantis team for more than two decades,†Hayleys chairman Mohan Pandithage said.
Waidyaratne was also appointed to the Hayleys Group Management Committee on February 01, 2011.
A former chairman of the Sri Lanka Freight Forwarders Association, Waidyaratne joined Hayleys Advantis in 1985 and was appointed director to one of its subsidiaries in 1996.
He has served as a director of Hayleys Advantis since July 2002, and was appointed its deputy managing director in January 2010.
Waidyaratne currently functions as a member of the Advisory Council of the SLFFA.
