Doodle Celebration

Author lbostgadmin | Posted on February 4, 2013 | Technology

Feb 04, 2013 (LBO) – Google has helped users in sri Lanka celebrate the country’s Independence Day on 2013 with a ‘Google Doodle’ on its homepage with a stylized lion and three colours found in the national flag. The doodle is visible on the google.lk home page worldwide and google.com pages viewed in Sri Lanka.

Google Doodles are used to commemorate special events or people and briefly replace its familiar logo with a different one which is hot linked to search results usually topped by Wikipedia entries.

According to a post on Google product forums, a user, Bhuddika Nuwan has requested the google team to place a google doodle on the island’s independence day on its homepage.

Sri Lanka’s independence day marks the end of British colonial rule on February 04, 1948 and the start of a path to self-determination.
