Sri Lanka industrial index up 1.1-pct in July 2018

Sept 13, 2018 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s  industrial production index grew by 1.1 percent to 105.9 from an year ago, data from the Census and Statistics Department shows.
The Index of Industrial Production recorded a value of 104.8 in 2017 July.

Food production grew 0.1 percent in July to 103.6 index points from a year earlier.
Apparel production also grew 1 percent to 110.5 points in 2018 July.

The biggest gainer during the month of July in 2018 was printing and reproduction of recorded media which was up 37.
2 percent to 114.1 points from a year earlier.

The manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products increased 0.
8 percent in July to 111 points from a year earlier.

Rubber and plastic product manufacturing was up 8.
8 percent in July to 117.4 points.

Manufacture of paper products, electrical equipment, furniture and tobacco recorded dips during the month of July.
