US, Norway, condemns the latest acts of violence in Sri Lanka
Apr.12 (LBO) – The governments of United States and Norway Wednesday condemned the latest round of violence in Sri Lanka and urged both parties to honour the ceasefire agreement.
“Our sympathies are with the families of the victims. The U.S. calls upon the LTTE to cease these violent attacks, to return to the cease-fire implementation talks and to engage constructively in the search for a political solution.”
The statements follow this morning’s claymore mine attack in Trincomalee, which killed two policemen and wounded two others.
“This is the third such attack in the last three days in which people have been killed or seriously injured,” Sri Lanka’s peace brokers Norway said.
The blast came a day after a similar attack against a bus carrying sailors in Trincomalee killed 12 people.
