Nandana Gunathilake resigns his posts at Sri Lanka’s Marxist nationalist JVP

Sept 29 (LBO) - A leading member of the Marxist-nationalist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna has resigned his position in the party. Nandana Gunathilake told a local radio station that he has finally resigned his positions in the JVP because the party failed to reform.

He said has taken a backseat in the party since February but since there were no signs of reforms he was resiging his positions. But would remain a member of the JVP.

There has been media speculation that Gunathilake would resign and join President Rajapakse’s Sri Lanka Freedom Party, especially if there was a snap poll.
