Italian government to help Sri Lanka to build Solid Waste Power Plant
Oct 14, 2019 (LBO) – Italian ambassador to Sri Lanka, Rita Mannella says that the Italian government is ready to provide technical assistance and investment opportunities to generate electricity using the waste which is a growing issue in the country.
The Ambassador said that Sri Lanka could face the growing demand for electricity in the future and that there is a need to prepare for it.
The ambassador made this statement during an official discussion with the Power Minister Ravi Karunanayake.
The Ambassador discussed the possibility of introducing a waste disposal plant capable of consuming between 100 and 300 tons of waste.
Minister Karunanayake expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador for focusing on such a low cost, environmentally friendly power generation system to meet the future demand for electricity.
