Emirates to increase services to Colombo to 7 a week from 3 May

Emirates has announced it will increase its services to Colombo from six to seven flights a week, with the seventh weekly flight commencing 3rd May. The additional service will serve rising market demand and enhance connectivity to and from Colombo via Dubai.

The added flight will operate every Monday. Emirates flight EK650 will depart Dubai at 02:05hrs and arrive in Colombo 08:00hrs local time. The return flight EK651 will depart Colombo at 09:30hrs and arrive in Dubai at 12:15hrs, local time. Customers can enjoy safe and convenient connections to more than 90 destinations within Emirates’ network, via Dubai.

Emirates’ has deployed the wide-body Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on its flights to Colombo. Tickets can be booked on emirates.com, Emirates sales offices, or via travel agents.

Emirates increased its services to Colombo from four to six weekly flights in February this year with the fifth weekly flight commencing 18 February and the sixth weekly flight commencing 27 February.

Emirates launched operations to Sri Lanka in 1986 and recently celebrated 35 years of operations to Colombo – a major milestone for the airline. Emirates was one of the first international airlines to resume outbound passenger flights from Colombo last year – helping facilitate travel for foreign nationals and Sri Lankans. Emirates SkyCargo – the airline’s freight division – continues to support the country by maintaining vital trade links and playing a crucial role in transporting goods to and from Colombo with four weekly cargo flights.  

Flexibility and assurance:  Emirates' booking policies offer customers flexibility and confidence to plan their travel. Customers holding tickets issued before 30 September 2020 for travel before 31 December 2021, can now rebook to travel anytime within 36 months, an extension of 12 months from the previous policy. Those holding tickets issued after 01 October 2020 for travel before 31 December 2021, can utilise their tickets anytime within 36 months from the date of their original booking. Fees for reissuing any ticket will be waived, and vouchers or unused portions of Emirates tickets may be refunded without penalty. More information here.
