Sri Lanka stocks up after GR election victory

Nov 18, 2019 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's All Share Index rose 94 points or 1.56 percent to 6,117 points in the first half of the day of trading following the election victory of Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the new President.

Stock indexes were up across the board with index heavy John Keells Holdings showing a gain of 4.20 rupees and last traded at 162.


30 rupees.

In the banking sector Commercial Bank of Ceylon was up 2.00 rupees to 171.90 rupees while Sampath Bank was also up 2.20 rupees at 171.90 rupees at midday.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka rupee also opened stronger at 179.60/75.
