This will be a major deal for hemas and aitken spence and lots of opportunity for taking bribes for all people from ministers to CEB people. these Power plants were fully depreciated in the company books and hence CEB should buy them for scrap or only pay for fuel and some reduced cost for generation of power only.

These thermal power generation agreements were initially signed during President Chandrika’s time by Hemas and AItken Spence and CEB guys took bribes and gave super profits for these companies as per the then agreed prices based on USD.

No long term purchase agreements should be signed now, and transparency should be maintained for these machines. Corruption Watchdog NGO’s and Unions should be looking at these agreements.

The reason for the power black-out may also be to do this repurchase deal, and get commissions for all around.

Solar power is mainly in the day time where as the peak demand is from 7 to 10 PM. But for AC it may help

Incentivise roof-top solar installations! Or at least waive any taxes so that more people will be able to afford them. This will immensely help with your power problems!

an A380 can land in almost any normal airport as per wheel weight distribution is less than a normal 747. but for taxing and for terminal handling airports need to be upgraded. for SL its the same. we have had about 3 to 4 A380 stopovers by EK but they do not connect to the terminal they refuel and sometimes do a schedule landing and continue on the journey.

Apparently we can accommodate A380 in an emergency. It happened in 2012 as well, but BIA is still not upgraded to serve them on a frequent basis, AFAIK.
