Sri Lankan hydro power producer starts new plant
Apr 05, 2010 (LBO) – Sri Lankan private power producer Vidullanka PLC commissioned and connected its fourth power plant to the national grid on March 26, the company said in a stock exchange filing.
The plant is owned by Gurugoda Hydro, a joint venture between Vidullanka and Hiradamani Pvt Ltd.
It was built by Vidul Construction, a fully-owned subsidiary of Vidullanka PLC, which will also handle operations and management of the project, the statement said.
Vidul Construction specialises in building mini-hydro power projects.
Vidullanka already owns two power plants of 2 and 3.
2 MegaWatts, supplying power to state-run Ceylon Electricity Board grid under 15-year power purchase agreements.
The company is also a working partner in another power plant and manages two other projects.
