SriLankan Cargo, the cargo arm of SriLankan Airlines, has handled the largest volume of transhipment cargo in January 2003 since July 2001.
The volume of transhipment cargo handled in January totalled 1,341 metric tonnes, the airline said on Wednesday.

rnThe type of transhipment cargo that is generally handled by SriLankan Cargo is general cargo and comprises garments, medicines, spare parts, fabric and computer accessories. rn
rnPerishable cargo is also shipped from Europe via Colombo to the Gulf and comprises meat, fruits and vegetables and flowers. Perishable cargo transits through the Colombo hub from Male and Oman
