PM Ranil requests people to maintain peace and celebrate calmly after polls

Aug 13, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister and Leader of the United National Party Ranil Wickremesinghe in a statement has requested people to maintain peace on the Election Day and the days following and celebrate the victory in a calm manner.
“The people of our country made a strong decision on the 8th of January to change the uncivilized family rule and build a righteous society,” Wickremesinghe said.
He said that this election clearly demonstrates the fact that the change which the people expected has already been set in motion.

“Our government has created the required background for the Commissioner of Elections and all other officers to conduct a free and fair election devoid of political interference,”

“This election will be recorded in the annals of recent history as the most civilized, lawful, free and fair peaceful election.” Wickremesinghe further said.
