The Mahapola Trust Fund and GTECH filed a counter case in courts Tuesday to fight a fundamental rights petition against the launch of its online lottery. The case is due to be taken up on March 25.
The Development Lotteries Board (DLB) got an interim injunction on Monday from the Supreme Court preventing Mahapola from launching its online lottery on Tuesday. rn

rnMahapola officials also argue that the Attorney Generals Department cleared the licensing issue raised with the fundamental rights petition, saying that the Mahapola Trust Fund Act allowed it to operate its own lottery.rn
rnMeanwhile, GTECH Lanka, the management company said that neither the Trust Fund nor GTECH Lanka was afforded an opportunity to respond to the petition presented to the court.rn
