Commercial Bank picked up its fifth consecutive Bank of the Year award given out by British magazine “The Banker”.



Commercial Bank picked up its fifth consecutive Bank of the Year award given out by British magazine “The Banker”. A Commercial Bank statement on Wednesday said the magazine’s annual ratings, published in its September 2005 issue, followed an in-depth scrutiny of strong performances and specific initiatives undertaken in 2004 by more than 2000 banks worldwide.

The statement said according to ‘The Banker’ the competitiveness of the magazine’s awards have increased year-on-year, making these awards the premier titles to win for banks and financial institutions.

Commercial Bank Managing Director Amitha Gooneratne said “Awards and accolades such as this will only strengthen our resolve to work even harder.

In the year of assessment, the statement said Commercial Bank had strengthened its retail banking operations significantly.

The Bank’s operates 128 branches and service points and 206 ATMs in Sri Lanka and five branches and service points and four ATMs in Bangladesh.
