Double Growth

The results, for the six months to Sept. 30 2002, again shows Emirates bucking current trends affecting the airline industry, with an operating revenue of Dhs 4.3 bn, representing strong growth of 27 percent compared to Dhs 3.4 bn in 2001, the airline said in a release Monday. rn

rnEven though overall seat capacity increased by 18 percent, seat factor increased to 78 percent compared to 74 percent the previous year, with cargo revenues growing by 38 percent.rn

rnThe cash balance on Sept. 30, 2002 was a robust US$ 1.1 bn compared to US$ 763 mn last year.rn

Emirates Airlines said its half yearly profits rose by 140 percent to US$ 110 mn compared to US$ 45.7 mn last year.
