The Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2006 on ‘Economic Growth: Towards National Prosperity’ will be held on January 27 and 28, 2006, at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel.

The Summit offers opportunities to learn about Sri Lanka’s economic prospects from experts preparing policy documents and also understand the role of government and private sector in implementation, says the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

An entire session has been allocated for deliberations on the peace process and representatives of all leading political parties in the country have been invited to air their views.

The summit will also look at poverty reduction and employment generation.

“Notwithstanding the unresolved internal discord, the country is estimated to have a growth rate of 5.5% for the year 2005,” said the Chamber.
