LBR spoke to Professor Peter Anderson, an expert on disaster warning systems at Simon Fraser University, British Columbia, about what needs to be done to be better prepared.

LBR: It is now over a month
after the tsunamis struck. Looking back what do think went wrong for Sri Lanka
on that day.

Prof. Peter Anderson:
There are several problems. First is
that people did not receive a warning. There was no mechanism in place to
mitigate this. There are areas that were impacted initially and perhaps there
was an opportunity to convey that sooner to other coastal areas, which could
have
