Sri Lanka has made it to the list of developing countries selected for concessional funds under the US governments Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
The US government on Thursday named 50 countries that made it for the first round of assistance due in May.

rnAt present, the list of countries are up for public comment endash as required by law - until end March and the MCC Board will meet in early May to pick out the final candidates.rn

rnIf Sri Lanka is among the final candidates, the country will be invited to develop a proposal to receive assistance from the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) that has US$ 1 bn at its disposal. rn
rnUS legislation to create the MCC was approved in January 2004 with an initial fund of US$ 1 bn, while requests have already been mad
