Sri Lankas IT industry is surging ahead and on Tuesday another key player launched operations in Colombo, adding one more link to the backward integration chain.
Sri Lankas computer market is estimated at 150,000 PCs a year and is growing at around 19 percent every year.rn
rnHigher priced branded computers make up nearly 30 percent of the total market but right now its an expensive job for the local industry to honour guarantees for computer parts.rn
rnThis is because Sri Lanka does not have service centres for computer parts and as a result guaranteed parts must go all the way back to the original re-seller based in some other country.rn
rnBut this is expected to change by next month with one of the worlds largest IT component distributors coming in to fill the void.rn
