Aug 30, 2009 (LBO) – Sri Lanka is promoting new joint ventures with Thailand after the end of a 30-year war in the island, organizers of an investment conference in Colombo that is opening Monday said. More than a 100 top Sri Lankan enterprises from private and public sectors will participate in the conference, Wickramanayaka said. The event which will be attended by more than 40 Thai enterprises honorary trade advisor to the Royal Thai government Chatura Wickramanayaka said in a statement.
In May Sri Lanka wiped out the last remnants of the Tamil Tiger separatist leadership.
The event to be opened by Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake will also be attended by investment promotion minister Anura Yapa and Central Bank governor Nivard Cabraal.
