Managed by the government, the Fund will focus on reconstruction and humanitarian work, a top government official said Friday.

Thanks to the advent of electronic media, people the world over are currently on a daily diet of tragic tales following Sunday’s searing images of suffering and grief.

Besides traditional humanitarian organizations, several private companies, non-governmental organizations, charities and trade chambers are finding an instantaneous way like the Internet to reach out to potential donors who want to help out tsunami victims.
