SriLankan Airlines CEO Suren Ratwatte retires amid Commission hearings

June 08, 2018 (LBO) – SriLankan Airlines CEO Suren Ratwatte has submitted a letter announcing his early retirement, few days after Presidential Commission on SriLankan and Mihin commenced witness hearings. Ratwatte appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines and Mihin Lanka with effect from October 2015.

Presidential Commission is to investigate alleged irregularities in connection with these two airlines during the period from 01st January 2006 to 31st January 2018. Ratwatte, a former captain with Emirates, had clashes with the SriLankan trade unions and even accused of falsely misleading the COPE. Ratwatte holds a Bachelor's degree and Master's degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and the author of several published works.
