Shamindra Marcelline receives CEO of the year 2022 award

Shamindra Marcelline, Chief Executive Officer of People’s Leasing & Finance has been bestowed with the award ‘CEO of the Year 2022’ from Sri Lanka Best Employer Brands Award 2022. 

The award, certified by the World Federation of Human Resources Professionals and endorsed by CHRO Asia, recognises leaders of organizations who have ‘contributed to the growth of the economy embracing all adversities’.

Shamindra Marcelline was selected on the criteria of being a champion of strategy and change management; communication effectiveness with and towards employees (post-COVID); innovation within other Human Resources (HR) disciplines and areas; and business related HR sensitivity and savviness. 

At People’s Leasing & Finance, Shamindra Marcelline has made a pivotal impact in its structural changes and in the organizational transformation process by establishing a better policy framework companywide, streamlining process improvement, developing administrative policies to improve the transparency of the company and introducing a target-oriented and performance based reward system and productive training for staff development and career progression.

Shamindra Marcelline prior joining People’s Leasing in November 2020, was Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Banking at DFCC Bank. Earlier, as the HSBC Group Country Manager, Maldives, he is credited with the transformation of the banking industry in the Maldives, and was responsible for the largest asset drive in the islands at the time.

Shamindra has strong credentials in the banking and finance sector in Sri Lanka and has contributed towards showcasing Sri Lanka’s investment potential globally. 

Shamindra holds a Degree in Economics and Accountancy (BSc.) from City University, London, (1996) and he is a licentiate in Financial Advisors’ International Qualification (FAIQ), Chartered Insurance Institute, UK (2008).
