Ceylon Biscuits group chairman retires after 48 years of service

July 06, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s biscuits manufacturing giant Ceylon Biscuits group said its Chairman Mineka P.





Wickramasingha has been retired after 48 years at the helm of the organization he founded in 1968.

At a recent Board meeting held on the 24 June 2015, the current Deputy Chairman, Ramya Wickramasingha was elected by the Board as the new Chairman of the Group while Mineka Wickramasingha will continue to mentor the group in his new role as President Emeritus, the company said.

The food conglomerate which currently employs more than 5,000 employees has become the market leader by capturing more than a 50 percent share of the local biscuit market and was one of the first to venture into India. “Former chairman took the personal challenge to grow exports of biscuits and from small successes in the early 1970’s.





” the company said in a statement. The Group currently exports to over 55 countries and is one of the largest exporter of biscuits and confectionery in the country.
