Aitken Spence Hotels re-brands its Maldivian properties

July 26, 2006 (LBO) - Aitken Spence Hotels re-branded its Maldivian properties under a new Adaaran brand, with six of its resort products coming under the new umbrella.

The hotels will be branded in four tiers - Adaaran Select, Adaaran Club, Adaaran Prestige and Adaaran Ayurveda Village the company said Wednesday.

The group also recently finalised a deal to sublease a new hotel Lohifushi in the Maldives, though the company declined to give financial commitments.

Maldivian tourism is also on the rise, up 84.3 percent in the first half of this year over 2005 to 297,650 tourists, led by Italy and the United Kingdom.

The re-branding follows an overhaul of the group’s local five star hotels under the Heritance brand, investing millions of dollars to spruce them up.

Properties like the Kandalama Hotel, Triton Ahungalle and the Tea Factory Hotel were given a facelift under the new branding exercise.

Pipeline plans also include an Aitken Spence hotel in Colombo city, with investments to the tune of 90 million dollars.
