Networking Skills

Oct 18, 2006 (LBO) – Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) has teamed up with Australia’s Curtin University of Technology to introduce an undergraduate Computer Systems and Networking course. The three year program covers hardware and software as well as computer communication and networking incorporating Local Area Networks (LANs), Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs), SLIIT said.

œThis is the first program of its kind to be offered in the field of IT in Sri Lanka, SLIIT President Sam Karunaratne, said.

The professional course also offers topics from engineering disciplines that includes software, electronic, electrical and telecommunications engineering.

œThe advantage of this course and its qualification is that students can be directly employed in positions such as network engineers, network managers, system administration and systems engineers, Karunaratne said.

œStudents need not have any additional professional qualification to apply for those posts if they follow our new course

The new program will be conducted at SLIIT Metropolitan University in Colombo with a panel of highly qualified lecturers and state-of-the-art
