Apr 04, 2011 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s Hayleys group has appointed Ruwan Waidyaratne as managing director of Hayleys Advantis, a subsidiary encompassing group companies in transportation and cargo logistics. The transportation division of Hayleys consists of more than 22 specialist companies. Waidyaratne succeeded M O Raban, who retired from the position on April 01 and will function as executive director of Hayleys Advantis, a statement said.

The transportation sector has been a consistent and important contributor to the revenue and profit of Hayleys, and Ruwan has been a key member of the Hayleys Advantis team for more than two decades,” Hayleys chairman Mohan Pandithage said.

Waidyaratne was also appointed to the Hayleys Group Management Committee on February 01, 2011.

A former chairman of the Sri Lanka Freight Forwarders Association, Waidyaratne joined Hayleys Advantis in 1985 and was appointed director to one of its subsidiaries in 1996.

He has served as a director of Hayleys Advantis since July 2002, and was appointed its deputy managing director in January 2010.
