SriLankan Airlines offers cargo delivery service in UK

Dec 28, 2011 (LBO) – SriLankan Airlines has begun a cargo delivery service to the United Kingdom that also offers customs clearance and documentation handling in an effort to gain a competitive edge. The new Door Delivery Cargo service is operated in collaboration with Air & Cargo Services Limited in the United Kingdom.

The national carrier’s SriLankan Cargo unit is offering door delivery service of unaccompanied baggage, gifts and sample shipments from the Colombo city cargo office to any destination in the UK, a statement said.

“Delivery to any address in the United Kingdom will be within two working days, depending on the area.”

Airport to door delivery of our clients’ cargo will be one of our key competitive advantages in the near future, SriLankan Airline’s Senior Manager Cargo (Worldwide Sales & Marketing), Ali Kamil said.

The service offers customs clearance, clearing and documentation formalities at destination airports and delivery to customer’s door, the statement said.

“Any charges on dutiable items will have to be borne by the consignee on delivery to the door.”
